Could Aaron Ramsey Play A More Advanced Role For Arsenal After Euro 2016?

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has a quandary over midfielder Aaron Ramsey ahead of the coming season. The Welsh international has been outstanding for the national team (with his blond hair) in an advanced midfield role in this summer’s Euro 2016, and will be hoping he’s doing enough to give his club boss a selection headache.

Ramsey has been a standout performer for Wales in the European Championships, making four assists in five games, while creating 15 chances from midfield. He’s scored or created a goal every 89 minutes, and has averaged a shot or created chance every 16 minutes. While impressing for Wales, Arsenal have stiffer competition…

Germany playmaker Mesut Ozil operates in the central attacking midfield role for Arsenal and is coming off the back of an outstanding Premier League campaign that saw him register 19 assists, while creating 146 chances in 35 appearances. Ramsey is unlikely to dethrone Ozil immediately as a result, but he’s done no harm to his chances.

No player in the tournament has created more goals than Ramsey, and his influence will be missed when his side meet Portugal in the Euro 2016 semis tonight. Wales are 2/1 to win against Portugal in normal time in tonight’s Euro 2016 semi-final clash, with the suspended Ramsey likely to return for the final if the Dragons deliver at the Stade des Lumières.
