Matteo Guendouzi Out To Keep An Arsenal Star On The Bench

Flash back to when Matteo Guendouzi joined Arsenal from French Ligue 2 side Lorient, his unveiling wasn't much of a fanfare like the likes of Sokratis, Torriera and the rest; a lot of fans expected him to be used for lesser competitions like the Carabao Cup or probably play for the U-20s. I remember clearly one of my friends who's a Chelsea fan laughing while saying to me "Your team signed a skinny guy with long hair, did you guys sign him for the women team?"

Reality check? Well! They say "Never judge a book by it's cover" and Matteo Guendouzi is proving this old adage to be true match after match.
Unai Emery's body language has shown that he believes in Matteo Guendouzi and is ready to make him a starter this season. Emery has been pleased with the young french international's work rate in training and he has picked him in the club's last two matches against Manchester City and Chelsea

A lot of fans were surprised when he appeared in the starting line up against Manchester City but Matteo Guendouzi has repaid the manager's trust with sublime performance in the last two matches making the manger forget about Mohammed Elneny who some fans believe would do a better job than the youngster since he has more Premier League experience.

Matteo Guendouzi stats in last two(2) matches
 Passes 96
Passes per match 48.00
 Through balls 1
Accurate long balls 8
 Shots 2
Shots on target 1
Shooting accuracy 50%
Fouls 1
 Tackle success 63%
Interceptions 9
Clearances 1
Recoveries 14
Duels won 16
Duels lost 6
Successful 50/50s 2

Yeah? We all know the the French Ligue 2 is a less competitive league and Guendouzi was playing there for Lorient where played 18 matches but with the numbers above he has impressed Unai Emery and the Arsenal fans in general, so he will likely start ahead of Elneny against West Ham on Saturday which means Mohammed Elneny maybe kept as a bench warmer or likely feature in competitions like Carabao cup and the rest.

Personally I don't care much about sentiments, or stuffs like that, the better player should play and for now Guendouzi is hot like molten magma so Unai Emery should stick with him if Elneny wants to get back into the starting XI, he should put in more work in training. Just like Ozil who was charged to up his defensive game by the manager so Elneny should up his game too.
