Turkish Side Wear Mesut Ozil Shirts To Support International Retirement

Football is more than just a sports or running about kicking an inflated ball made from pig skin. Turkish side Malatyaspor gained worldwide attention on Saturday after they stepped out wearing Mesut Ozil shirts in a pre-season friendly against Gazisehir Gaziantep.

As they made their way out onto the pitch, Malatyaspor players has t-shirts on with Mesut Ozil’s face on the front.
The shirts also had the following message: “We are all you, say no to racism.”

It's no longer news that Mesut Ozil has retired from international duties after Germany were eliminated from the Russia 2018 world cup; reason? The Germany media made him a scapegoat for Germany's poor outing at the World Cup, which didn't go down well with Ozil and he decided to call it quit.

The controversy that led to the Arsenal star quiting the National team started before the World cup when he and National team mate Gündoğan, met with Turkish president Reccip Erdogan, Ozil who has Turkish roots captioned the photo "with my President" and that didn't go well with a lot of Germans and that resulted to a lot of backlashes from both the media and supporters

While there has been divide a whole lot of divided views on the matter, yesterday Turkish side Malatyaspor has in their pre season frindly came out with shirts that have the face of Mesut Ozil on it to show support and send an anit-racism message to the whole world.

Personally, I think this was a great gesture by the Turkish team, racism is not a good thing and should not be condoned. And good luck to Malatyaspor on their campaign.

    1. The German media blew everything out of proportion, heaping the whole blame on Ozil because he has Turkish roots and he's a Muslim. It was very bad.
