Unai Emery - Ozil Needs To Step Up His Defensive Game

Mesut Ozil is certainly not having the best time of his life, from a bad World Cup campaign in Russia, and being singled out by the German media as a scapegoat for the team's bad outing at the World cup plus his decision to retire from International duty, then there was a little light at the end of the tunnel when Arsen Wenger's successor named him as one of the club's captains for the season.
However things have not being going the way Ozil or any Arsenal fan has dreamt of the going, with two consecutive losses in two weeks at the hands of Manchester City and Chelsea respectively leaving Arsenal 17th on the league table with no points yet.

Ozil didn't make much impact in the 2-0 defeat to Manchester City at home in the opening round of the new season and he has come under a lot of criticism for his defensive work habit.
Gunners new manager Unai Emery was asked about Ozil's defensive activity, he(Emery) made it clear that he expects all his players are expected to put in effort to recover the ball whenever possession is lost.

Emery said-
Defensive moments are for each and every player, there are defensive and attacking moments in football. We need to start together, whether we are attacking or defending.
The new manager still went on to say that the team needs Ozil as he's a crucial part of the team, saying his happy with Ozil's contribution so far this season but there's always room for improvement and he's expecting Ozil to improve both on the defensive and offensive aspect of his game.

Ozil will be hoping to impress Unai Emery at the Emirate when Arsenal take on West Ham on Saturday.
