Flamini Being Tracked By Panathinaikos

Arsenal's Mathieu Flamini has been offered to Greek side Panathinaikos as his second spell at Arsenal looks set to come to an end this summer. Flamini's contract with the Gunners expires at the end of the season, with manager Arsene Wenger unlikely to offer the 32-year-old midfielder an extension to his current terms.

Flamini has played 24 games for Arsenal this season, scoring twice against Tottenham at White Hart Lane in a League Cup third round clash last September.

With Francis Coquelin and Mohamed Elneny both ahead of him in the pecking order however, Flamini has been offered to several clubs around Europe, including Greek giants Panathinaikos.

Andrea Stramaccioni's side are still weighing up whether or not they will make an approach for Flamini, with his wage demands of £75,000-per-week proving something of a stumbling block or the deal.

However, former Chelsea star Michael Essien is poised to leave the club when his contract expires this summer, Panathinaikos remain confident they can persuade Flamini to take a paycut.

Indeed, the Greek club expect former Arsenal midfielder Gilberto Silva, their technical director, to play a major role in any potential deal.

Flamini has also received interest from the MLS, as well as Turkey, but he is expected to stay in Europe, where he can focus on his biochemical company, which he claims could revolutionise the energy industry.

Personally speaking: Flamini being Mesut Ozil's best friend in the team, I hope him leaving won't have any psychological effect on Ozil's game.
