Zlatan Ibrahimovic Is Worthy Of Replacing Olivier Giroud

Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Paris Saint-Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is leaving the Parc des Princes this summer after a successful four years in the capital. The Swedish international left as PSG’s all-time leading goalscorer and will now be a free agent ahead of the 2016/17 season.

He’s been linked with a number of Premier League sides, but Arsenal fans have been vocal in their hope that the Gunners steer clear. Ibrahimovic is cited as a troublesome player who puts himself before the side, and could be a toxic atmosphere in the camp. However, he’s a striker still at the top of his game at 34 who would surely compete with Olivier Giroud for a starting place.

Ibrahimovic has scored over 150 goals in around 180 games for Paris Saint-Germain since his 2012 move from AC Milan, which is considerably higher than Giroud’s 82 goals in 118 games. The French international endured a lengthy goal drought this season too that coincided with a dip in form from the club, so what’s the worst that would happen with Ibrahimovic?

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has instilled a team ethic among the squad, which is also based on hard work and selfless expression on the pitch, two things nor normally attributed to Ibrahimovic, which is why many are opposed to his signing.

Nevertheless, his power and aerial threat would make him a hard player to contain, coupled with his ruthless scoring tallies each season. He could surely improve what Arsenal have in the squad. So is he worth signing?
